1. Information We DON'T Collect

SonicKeys is designed to work entirely on your device without collecting, storing, or transmitting any personal data. Specifically:

We Never Access:

• Your keystrokes: SonicKeys does not log, record, or have access to the actual characters you type
• Your text content: We never read, store, or analyze any text you input
• Your microphone: The app never accesses or requests microphone permission
• Your location: We don't collect or access location data
• Your contacts: We don't access your contact list
• Your photos or camera: No access to your media library or camera
• Your device identifiers: We don't collect device IDs, advertising IDs, or similar identifiers

We Never Collect:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Crash reports or diagnostic data
• IP addresses or network information
• Any data that could identify you as an individual

2. How SonicKeys Works

Understanding how the app functions will help you see why your privacy is inherently protected:

Sound Playback Only

When you type on the SonicKeys keyboard, the app only performs one action: it plays a pre-recorded sound effect. That's it. The app:

• Detects when a key is pressed (but not which key)
• Plays the corresponding sound from your selected profile
• Continues to process key events normally

Important: The keyboard extension operates independently of the main app and has no capability to transmit data outside your device.

Local Storage Only

The only data stored on your device is:

• Sound profile selection: Which sound pack you've chosen (e.g., "Vintage Erika" or "Mechanical Elite")
• Volume level: Your preferred sound volume setting
• Haptics preference: Whether haptic feedback is enabled
• Premium status: Whether you've purchased the Pro version (stored via Apple's StoreKit)

This data is stored locally using iOS's UserDefaults and App Group container. It never leaves your device.

No Internet Connection Required

SonicKeys works completely offline. The app does not:

• Make any network requests
• Connect to remote servers
• Upload or sync any data
• Communicate with third-party services

The only network activity occurs when you make a purchase through Apple's App Store, which is handled entirely by Apple's secure payment system.

3. iOS Keyboard Extension Privacy

Apple requires all keyboard extensions to explicitly declare if they request "Full Access." Here's what you need to know:

Full Access Requirement

SonicKeys requires "Allow Full Access" to be enabled. However, this is not because we access your data — it's because:

• iOS requires Full Access for custom keyboards to play sounds
• Full Access enables the keyboard to share data with its containing app (for settings like your selected sound profile)
• This is an iOS system requirement, not a choice made to access your data

What Full Access Does NOT Mean

Even with Full Access enabled, SonicKeys:

• Does not log keystrokes
• Does not record text input
• Does not transmit any data over the network
• Does not access the contents of your typing

Apple's Privacy Protection

Apple provides additional protections for keyboard extensions:

• Keyboard extensions run in a sandboxed environment
• They cannot access other apps or system data without explicit permissions
• Any network activity would be visible to iOS and require additional permissions
• Apple reviews all keyboard apps for privacy compliance before App Store approval

4. In-App Purchases

SonicKeys offers a one-time purchase to unlock Pro features. Here's how it works:

Apple Handles All Payment Processing

• All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store
• We never see or store your payment information
• Apple provides purchase receipts that we validate locally
• Your purchase status is stored only on your device

No Subscription Tracking

SonicKeys uses a one-time payment model, not subscriptions. We don't track:

• When you made the purchase
• Which payment method you used
• Your Apple ID or account details
• Any identifying information about you

5. Third-Party Services

SonicKeys does not integrate any third-party services. Specifically:

• No analytics platforms: No Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.
• No advertising networks: No ads, no ad tracking
• No crash reporting tools: No Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.
• No social media SDKs: No Facebook SDK, Twitter Kit, etc.
• No cloud services: No data sync, no cloud storage

The only Apple frameworks used are:

• AVFoundation: For audio playback
• StoreKit: For in-app purchases (handled by Apple)
• SwiftUI/UIKit: For user interface
• UserDefaults: For local settings storage

6. Data Security

While we don't collect data, we still take security seriously:

Device-Level Security

• All settings are stored in your device's secure storage
• Data is protected by iOS's built-in encryption
• No data is transmitted over networks
• App uses iOS App Group sandboxing for isolation

Code Security

• The app is built with Apple's native frameworks
• Regular security updates through App Store
• No external dependencies that could compromise security

7. Children's Privacy

SonicKeys is appropriate for all ages. Because we don't collect any data, we are compliant with children's privacy regulations including:

• COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act): We don't collect data from children or anyone else
• GDPR-K: Full compliance as no personal data is processed

Parents can confidently allow children to use SonicKeys without privacy concerns.

8. Your Rights

Under privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA, you have rights regarding your personal data. With SonicKeys:

Data Access

There is no personal data to access — everything is stored locally on your device.

Data Deletion

To delete all SonicKeys data:

1. Delete the SonicKeys app from your device
2. Remove the SonicKeys keyboard from Settings → General → Keyboard

This removes all locally stored preferences. There is no server-side data to delete.

Data Portability

Your settings (sound profile, volume, haptics) are stored in standard iOS UserDefaults. These are personal preferences with no identifying information.

Opt-Out

There are no analytics, tracking, or data collection to opt out of. Privacy is the default.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Effective Date" at the top of this page.

Our commitment remains unchanged: SonicKeys will never collect, store, or share your personal data.

If we ever introduce features that require data collection (which we have no plans to do), we will:

• Update this policy with clear explanations
• Notify users through the app
• Obtain explicit consent before collecting any data
• Make such features entirely optional
